Privacy Policy
Last updated October 30, 2026
Pro Hunt Weather is built for hunters, and we know your spots are private. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else handles it and what you control. It covers the Pro Hunt Weather iPhone app, the web app and this website (together, “the service”).
The short version: we don't sell your information, we don't use it for advertising, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't share your locations with anyone.
What we collect
- Account. Your email address, and your name if you sign in with Apple or Google. If you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email, we receive Apple's relay address instead. We use these to sign you in and to email you about your account (for example, verification codes and password resets).
- Your hunting content. Hunting spots, waypoints (such as sign, trail cameras and stands) with their photos and notes, folders, routes you record, wind reports, the hunts you plan, your questions to the Pro Hunt Guide and the settings you choose. This content is private to your account.
- Location. With your permission, the app uses your phone's location to show where you are on the map, to place a spot or waypoint where you stand, to set a weather station's position, and to record a route while you track one. Route recording keeps using location when the app is in the background or the screen is off, until you stop the route; iOS shows that location is in use. Your position is sent to us only as part of something you save, such as a spot, a waypoint, a station's position or a recorded route.
- Motion. While you record a route, the app reads your phone's barometer to measure climbing and descending. The readings stay on your phone; only the route's elevation profile is saved with the route.
- Photos. Photos you take or choose for a waypoint. The app only sees the photos you pick; it doesn't browse your library.
- Weather station data. If you connect a station, the readings it uploads and the location its owner sets. A station's upload token is stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form we can't read back.
- Subscriptions. If you subscribe to Pro, our payment processor, Stripe, collects your payment details. We keep your plan, its status and Stripe's customer reference, never your card number.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, a device token so we can send the alerts you turn on.
- Technical information. Like most online services, our servers receive your IP address and basic request details when the app or website talks to them. We use them to run and secure the service and keep them in logs for up to 30 days.
We don't collect your contacts, health data, browsing history or advertising identifiers, and the app has no advertising or third-party analytics code.
How we use it
- To run the service: forecasts and hunting outlooks for your spots and stations, terrain analysis around your spots, your maps and content, syncing between your devices, and the alerts you turn on.
- For Pro features that use AI: suggesting the type of sign in a waypoint photo, and the Pro Hunt Guide's answers, stand picks and alerts. The photo, or your question and the details of the spots and stations needed to answer it, are processed by AI models running in our cloud provider's U.S. regions. Your content is not used to train those models. The Guide keeps a memory of your recent conversations for up to 90 days, and of facts and preferences you've shared (such as the stands you favor) until you delete your account, so it can follow up.
- To improve forecasts: readings from connected weather stations help us correct forecasts for the ground around them.
- To communicate with you: account emails, replies when you contact support, and notice of important changes. We don't send marketing email without your permission.
- To keep the service working and secure: preventing abuse, fixing problems and meeting legal obligations.
Who can see your information
Your spots, waypoints, photos, routes, plans, Guide conversations and weather stations are visible only to you. They're never published or shown to other users. If we add a way to share something, such as a weather station, it will be your choice, and we'll update this policy first.
Service providers
We use a small number of companies to run the service. They handle information only on our behalf and under contracts that limit how they use it:
- Amazon Web Services hosts and processes our data, sends our account emails and runs the AI features, in the United States.
- Stripe processes subscription payments.
- Apple and Google, if you sign in with them, and Apple to deliver notifications.
- Mapbox provides the maps. To draw a map or save an area for offline use, your device requests map images for that area, and Mapbox counts map use for billing. We have turned off Mapbox's optional usage and location telemetry, so it doesn't receive your location from our app.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the service (in which case this policy would continue to apply). We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How long we keep it
- Your account and content: for as long as you keep your account.
- When you delete something (a spot, a waypoint, a photo, a route), it's removed right away.
- When you delete your account, we cancel any subscription and permanently delete your account and everything in it. Copies in our backups expire within 35 days.
- Readings already uploaded by a weather station you remove may be kept to improve forecasts, without any link to you or your account.
- Stripe keeps payment records for as long as financial laws require.
Your choices and rights
- You can view, edit or delete any spot, waypoint, photo or route at any time.
- You can turn off location, camera, motion or notification access in your phone's settings. The features that need them stop working; the rest of the app keeps working.
- You can delete your account in the app's Settings (Account) or on the web under Account.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing support@prohuntweather.com. Depending on where you live (for example, California and other U.S. states with privacy laws), you may have these rights by law; we honor them for everyone. We won't treat you differently for using them. We may need to confirm the request comes from you.
Keeping it safe
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Waypoint photos are stored privately and shown only to you through links that expire. Access to our systems is limited to the people who run the service. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your information happens, we'll notify you as the law requires.
Children
The service isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Where we operate
Pro Hunt Weather is operated from the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
